The American Prairie Reserve (now just American Prairie) is a prairie conservation organization that is dedicated to reconstructing a massive contiguous portion of prairie habitat in Montana. Sean Gerrity is one of the founders and the retired CEO of AP, and nobody knows the story of this incredible project better than he does.

A tragic wildlife loss that has taken place in the last 160ish years is the extinction of the eastern elk subspecies. These majestic cervids were the stunning feature of the prairies east of the Mississippi river, but they were unfortunately erased from these ecosystems by overhunting and habitat loss during the settlement of that part of the country. Nicolas and Kent sat down with Steven Dobey of RMEF to discuss this interesting tragedy.
